I am delighted to have the opportunity to formally express how happy we are with our remodeled kitchen and family room. Associated Housewrights did a masterful job of turning a cramped and unsightly kitchen into a beautiful, highly functional center of our home. When we contracted with your firm last year to help us transform a major portion of the house, we had few ideas regarding how we could improve the space and integrate it with the spacious living and dining area at the front of the house. Through a series of evolving floor plans, the Housewrights staff showed us how we could expand and reorient the kitchen by moving the laundry room to the lower level and building a peninsula of cabinets and countertop that both defines the kitchen space but also serves as a transition between the kitchen and the informal eating area that is part of the family room. This new floor plan freed up space by extending the front hall to give direct access to the backyard and access to the kitchen and family room area, thus integrating both visually and functionally the two public portions of the home. Our friends and family have frequently commented on how much more attractive, inviting, and comfortable this area has become. We now look forward to entertaining guests, which we avoided before the remodeling. Besides our enthusiasm for the new floor plan and the traffic patterns that have been created by it, we are pleased with the aesthetic details in the kitchen. The granite sink, quartz countertops, and Italian tile backsplash along with the new oak flooring echo the stone fireplace and the wood paneling and flooring in the living room and serve as another way in which the kitchen is now integrated with the rest of the home. The new lighting has dramatically improved our ability to work in the kitchen and illuminates the decorative details that make the house unique. Because we were living in the house during the entire remodeling project, we observed the process of gutting the kitchen and re-building it from the studs in. It was in the early stages of the work that the carpenters discovered damage from carpenter ants, inadequate insulation, and structural defects. They carefully explained the problems and offered sensible solutions that have improved the infrastructure of our home and helped us to cut our energy costs. Throughout the process, the Housewrights staff members were patient, prompt, and informative. Whenever we raised a problem or concern, they immediately addressed it and found a satisfactory solution. The remodeled kitchen has exceeded our hopes and expectations, and I would enthusiastically recommend Associated Housewrights to anyone who is considering a home remodeling project.
